I've been away for a while & have not written a blog in over a year. Probably close to 3, but whose counting? I've turned a page in my life & decided to do the whole workout, get healthy thing. I'm using my extra hours to go to the gym & sweat for fun. Blah. It's a big change, but the hard work is paying off. I figured I'd try & start this writing thing back up. Side note: my dad thinks I should do a video blog because then y'all can get the intent (plus my southern twang) behind my little notes. I told him I'd take up too much time, cause I'd have to put the words at the bottom of the page; with a little dot following them, for the folks that cannot understand the words coming from my mouth. Half the time, he doesn't understand me. Anyways, maybe that'll be something to look forward to.
Back to my blog for the day. Since I've been trying to get healthy, I decided to do a "detox" bath today. You know, the whole Epsom salt, baking soda & lavender one? Yeah, well it is fabulous, but just a heads up. Do NOT take this bath when you have any plans for the day. With it being Labor Day & the hubs at work, I decided I'd clean the house, wash clothes, etc. Well after the gym, I figured I'd take a quick (haha) bath. Yup, I'm still in here. Wrinklin' up like a raisin. I ain't got nothing done. Oh yeah, there are clothes in the wash. Ugh. Gotta get those. This bath not only relaxes you, it renders you useless. Like as the water was filling up, I decided to jump on in. Completely started scoping out Facebook posts & seriously forgot that the water was on. Maybe not really forgot, more of really not caring. I didn't notice till it was at my neck. By that time, my towel that was laid over the side of the tub, had soaked up mostly of water. I giggled at myself & just threw it in the floor. I'll deal with that when I get out. I mean this is like the best muscle relaxer ever. All I'm missing are candles & Enya playing on my iPod. I didn't plan this very well. I will in fact do this again & be a tad more prepared next week. Best thing to help you chill & highly recommend; Unless of course you have plans. Don't do it. Just wait till you return from your duties.
Bath ingredients:
•Epsom salt - 1 cup
•Baking soda - I just poured some in till I felt there was enough
•Lavender Oil - 8-10 drops
•Apple cider vinegar - about a cup
***As warm water as you can stand. Don't make it too hot.
Once a week & drink plenty of water afterwards please!

just saying...
OK, this is just common knowledge.
Don't take a knife (or spoon) to a gun fight...you will not win. Plain & simple.

the wooden spoon
Always knock on wood. Not for luck, but to make sure its strong, treated & not crumbling apart. Anything you build - relationships, character, a house - has to be strong & treated right. When you have friendships & loved ones, the strong will survive. If you build others up with encouraging words & are the best you can be towards them, they will stay strong. In return, you'll also benefit from having a great friend &/or relative. Same with your home. Treat it well, paint it, clean it. Ya know, regular maintenance. It will last you a life time :)
Spoon me
Be kind to others. That's it. Nothing else. Just be kind, it will take you far. PROMISE!!
What's that saying? " ...its easier to get bee's with honey". Yeah, something like that. A simple 'hello' to someone, or open a door while walking into a store. Help the elderly lady to her car (especially in this heat) I'm not saying to go overboard with butt kissing, just be kind.
*side note for our partners, other half, what have you.... Butt kissing is allowed to your better half. As a matter of fact, it is highly encouraged & yes, go overboard!

Sweat the small stuff
Yes, sweat the small stuff! Who ever said "don't", had never met a mosquito, or better yet, a spider! I know they are creatures of this world, but, OH MY GOSH. I'll take a lizard, snake or alligator any day. Something as small as a spider can take down a 200 lb man, well thats scary. Same thing for life. There may be that one huge thing that someone did, that really hurt you. Did you make it through? You stood strong, right? More then likely, you got over it. Ok, now what about the small things that hurt you. The ones that are around all the time? Just waiting in corners, under the bed, in the shower? I'm thinking of spiders again, but yeah, those are the things that hurt over & over. Most the time you cant see them coming, then all of a sudden, its on you. Those are the people you don't want in your life. You don't want the big mean ones either, but at least you can see them coming. Keep the people out, who pick, pick, pick. Eventually, they will wear you down, mentally, physically & emotionally, or they will kill you...
what are you doing with your spoon?
I've gone through life wondering who writes the books, that everyone flocks to, so their life seems important. Yes, I know their names, well some of them, but WHO are they? Doctors, self-help gurus, moms, dads, murders, thieves? What makes them better then me? Better then the 'run of the mill' chick from a little town in the south? We all live looking for the next Oprah to help us through a crisis, pain, love lost, but in reality, we can be our own Oprah (or Dr Phil) for our fella' friends. You only become who you want to be. Yes, that sounds so blah, but it is true. WAIT!! Don't stop reading now, hear me out! Life is what you make it. I know some people are born with a silver spoon in their mouths & some are born without a spoon at all. That doesn't matter. The ones with the spoon usually have a head start, but typically decide the spoon isn't enough. They want more. So guess what? When they drop that spoon, it gives you a chance to retrieve it. Take that spoon & do something with it!
*talking about spoons has made me hungry. you can go get a snack too*.
Ok. Back to what I was saying. Have you ever looked at a spoon? I mean really check it out? There's tons of stuff to do with a spoon. Who cares if its silver- aren't most stainless steal anyways?
The obvious, eat (which you should have done by now) dig, stir, give meds, spank your kids~wooden of course...kidding...kidding. Anyways, the spoon reflects, oh yeah, they are mirrors too. Ok, they reflect us as people. We are in the world, no matter what, so what we decide to do with our life is up to us. There are so many possibilities for us. Most of us only choose to do what is easy. We don't think 'outside the spoon'.
So, the point of this blog is my way of using my spoon for something different. Hope you enjoy. If not, who cares!! Go read a book written by Oprah.

This is not a self help blog
Ok, to start off, this is NOT some type of self-help writing, or a blog on how to learn a kind of love sign or language. Im not gonna tell you to go eat, love or pray. Well, I suggest you do those, but thats not for me to tell you when or how. That's for you to decide. Eat when you wanna, love only when you wanna & pray. That's it, just Pray.
These post will only be my own feelings. Yep, just lil' ole me & maybe a few of my close participants, that I choose to involve. Its my own feelings, thoughts & sometimes rants that I'm putting out there. That's it, nothing more, nothing less.
